Rebalances and allocations

Updated over 8 months ago

Q: Can you walk me through the email rebalances?

A: Absolutely. In any (and when I say any, I mean all) emails, what matters most is the Last Allocation Date and the weightings listed underneath.

If the Last Allocation Date is a day in the past, that means there was a change in allocations on that date, and the program has been holding the allocations shown in the email body ever since.

Whenever the Last Allocation Date matches the date you received the email, it means that at market close (since all strategies trade using MOC-type orders) the strategy will trade and adjust the weightings to the ones just sent to you.

If you're receiving daily emails for programs that aren’t meant to rebalance daily, those are simply confirmation emails. If you check the Last Allocation Date, you’ll see it’s in the past. As long as the Last Allocation Date doesn’t reflect the current date (which depends on the day you’re checking the email), the program did not trade. It’s simply confirming that the program is holding the allocations shown in that email.

Q: How do you know the rebalancing frequency mandate of a given strategy?

A: You’ll find it in the stats section after you click and expand the strategy card in the Strategy Database.

Q: Apart from the email body, where else can I see the Last Allocation Date for a given program?

A: When you expand a strategy card, you'll find the date listed above the pie charts. You can also see it in the minimized view of the strategy card.
